The terms that apply to your use of the SolarSnap desktop application and this website.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form an agreement between you and Chunyang Gao (individual developer) ("we", "us") regarding the SolarSnap desktop application (available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, the "App") and the SolarSnap official website (the "Site").
By downloading, installing, accessing, or otherwise using the App or the Site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App or the Site.

2. Licence grant

Provided you comply with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to install and use the App on devices that you own or control.
  • The Free edition may be used at no charge; its feature scope is described on the Pricing page.
  • Pro is a one-time purchase licence and may be activated on the number of devices stated on the Pricing page.
  • These Terms grant a right of use, not ownership. The App is licensed to you, not sold to you.

3. Restrictions

Except where expressly permitted by law or with our prior written consent, you must not:
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or attempt to derive its source code;
  • copy, sell, rent, resell, or distribute the App, or use it for commercial redistribution;
  • remove, obscure, or circumvent copyright notices, licence validation mechanisms, or other rights notices in the App;
  • activate the same licence key on more devices than permitted, or share or publicly distribute that key;
  • use the App for any activity that violates the law or infringes the rights of others.
Screenshots and other content you process with the App belong to you, and we claim no rights over them.

4. Free and Pro editions

  • Free edition: may be used free of charge indefinitely, and we will not unilaterally withdraw the core functionality it already provides. We reserve the right to adjust the scope of the Free edition in the future, but this will not disable functionality in versions already released.
  • Pro: remains valid after a one-time payment. We reserve the right to introduce new features that are exclusive to Pro. This does not affect the functionality you have already obtained.
  • SolarSnap Pro includes a limited free trial for new users; the trial period and rules are as shown in the App. Reinstalling on the same device does not grant a new trial.

5. Purchases, payment, and delivery

  • Merchant of Record: purchases on the Site are processed by Dodo Payments acting as the Merchant of Record. Dodo Payments handles payment collection, invoicing, collection and remittance of taxes, and the execution of refunds, and may appear as the counterparty on your invoice and statement.
  • Delivery: after a successful payment, the licence key is generated automatically by Dodo Payments and sent to the email address you provide at checkout. You activate it by pasting the key into the licence settings of the App. Delivery is automatic and normally requires no human intervention.
  • Price and taxes: the price shown at checkout is the applicable amount and includes applicable taxes. Depending on your country or region, the amount actually charged may differ slightly due to currency conversion.
  • Invoices: invoices are issued automatically by Dodo Payments and are normally provided with the order confirmation email. Contact us if you need one reissued or corrected.

6. Updates and support

  • The App includes an update checker. You can disable automatic checks in settings, or skip a particular version.
  • Versions obtained through the Microsoft Store are updated by the Microsoft Store.
  • We provide email support to paying users within a reasonable scope. Support does not include troubleshooting other software, system configuration, or third-party services on your device.
  • We make no commitment regarding the delivery date of any specific feature or the release of any future version.

7. Intellectual property

  • The software, interface design, icons, and text of the App and the Site are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and related laws.
  • The "SolarSnap" name and logo are ours; you may not use them in a way that suggests a relationship with us without written permission.
  • The App includes third-party open-source components, provided under their respective licences. A complete list is available on the "Open-source licences" page inside the App.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will meet all of your requirements.
Please keep your own backups of important data. The App captures and processes screen content, and you are responsible for ensuring that you are not recording material restricted by law or by contract.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption) arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims under any circumstances is limited to the total amount you actually paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

10. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms and their formation, validity, interpretation, and performance are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be addressed by the parties in good faith by email. Please write to 434260666@qq.com describing the dispute and how you would like it resolved.
If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation, either party may seek a remedy under applicable law. Nothing in this section excludes any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country or region.

11. Changes and termination

  • If these Terms change, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the App or the Site constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
  • We may terminate your licence if you materially breach these Terms. You may terminate these Terms at any time by ceasing to use the App and uninstalling it.
  • On termination, sections 7, 8, 9, and 10, and any other provisions that by their nature should survive, will continue to apply.
